Is there a way to change the text displayed in the reputation bar?

Also, can anyone give an overview of how reputation is accrued? I know users can give/take to/from other users, but how does post count tie into this?

Yes the text is defined in the language files. For English it is in the folder languages, in the file english.xml

Code:
<page name="REPUTATION_VALUES">
  <Resource tag="EXALTED">Exalted</Resource>
  <Resource tag="FRIENDLY">Friendly</Resource>
  <Resource tag="HONORED">Honored</Resource>
  <Resource tag="NEUTRAL">Neutral</Resource>
  <Resource tag="UNFRIENDLY">Unfriendly</Resource>
  <Resource tag="VALUE_0">Hated</Resource>
  <Resource tag="VALUE_20">Hostile</Resource>
 </page>

when you change the file make sure next you restart the application to see the changes.

The user receives 3 points when post one message. The reputation is based on what you set as maximum negative and maximum positive. for example if you set it from 0 to 100. 0 is negative and 100 is positive then 50% would be neutral 60% would be Honored and so on.
