Hi everyone - I'm a little puzzled. I am the Host Admin on my Yaf forum. I have 3 other Admins that I (think - I have asked them to double check that they can access the Admin sections) are working correctly. I have just added another admin. I went to the "Users and Roles" section, and to the particular User I'm trying to give Admin permissions to, I went to her User Detail Section and her Rank is "Administrator" and she is checked as Approved, then I went to her User Roles tab and made sure that she is checked as an Administrator, and that she is approved, and made sure to save on both tabs. However, she still can not access the Admin section of the forums. She said she is getting this message: "To access the area your board's Host Admin should set some extra permissions for you" can anyone tell me what other permissions I have to grant her? I am sure I got all the same permissions for her as I have with my other Admins - so I can't figure out why she can't access the Admin sections! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using YAF.NET 2.1.2 running on hosting system by SmarterAsp.com and they are using (I think) .Net 4.5. Why is she not able to get into the Admin areas?

Ijust heard back from one of my other Administrators, who has the exact same privileges and rights assigned as my new Admin - and she can not access the Admin sections on the forums any more either! I changed hosting companies and updated the entire forum last year because I was having severe issues with database corruption from my previous hosting company. The change to a new hosting company fixed the service issues  and updating the entire forums from 1.9.1 to 2.1.2 fixed any remaining login issues for my users. However, I guess none of my Admins have tried login since then - because this is the first I've heard that none of them have access to the Admin sections, and the ony difference between their permissions and min is that mine are set to Host Admin. I really don't want to give Host Admin rights to any one else since they don't now anything about setting up the boards and maintaining the database and launching the forums on the hosting service...but why would they be unable to access the Admin section? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

You're trying to a User access to only the Admin portion of the website, is that correct? While I wait for your response, I'm going to test that out on my site.

Update added Administrator role to a regular account and could see the Admin and Moderator links, but Admin says insufficient privileges basically. Moderate link worked as expected though.

Yes. I went ahead and gave then "Host" Admin access, and now all of them can access the Admin sections - but they should have been able to access the Admin sections without having Host admin access - they were previously (before I updated to 2.1.2) - I just think it's kind-of dangerous to give them Host Admin access - but if that is what it takes to grant them Admin privileges for now, I'm willing to do it. (Sigh). Thanks for your help.

Be aware that you manually need to grant permission to access the page(s) you want the admin user to see. By default all pages are disabled.

Under Host Administration > Admin Page Access are all Users listed that are part of the Administrator Role (That has the checkbox "Is admin" enabled). If you click on Edit you see the list of all Admin Pages. And you can select which page the admin should have access to, or click on grant all to allow all pages.
