Is anyone out there having any Avatar trouble?

I've installed .0.9.8, then I added some Avatars.

I can browse Avatars. Myself and other users can also set the avatars in our profiles, however, the avatars are not displayed when with our posts. I verified that image.aspx can get avatar images form our forum, so thats ok. I also restarted IIS several times, just in case YAF was caching anything..no luck.

Where is a link towards an example, or if I can mind if I create an account to see what is happening???

I just tested the avatar stuff a lot today and it seems to be working fine in 0.9.8...

Let me know.

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me.

I'm not able to get you into the forum, its on a network behind a firewall and outside access is blocked. I have no control over this. Is there any there information, or maybe screenshots I could send you that can be of help?

I justnoticed I  wasn't clear about something, sorry. This was an upgrade from .097, so maybe something wen't wrong with the upgrade? On second thought, maybe not, because so many bugs were fixed, and the forum says its running .098

In forum/default.aspx?g=cp_editprofile under avatar, is the delete button showing up, or is there text in the box that says "Enter the url of an avatar that will be displayed next to your posts." if either of these shows up it should be working...

Do you see a red x instead of the image?

Also look for something that looks like

<td valign="top" height="100" colspan='2'>
  <img src='/forum/image.aspx?u=6'><br clear="all"/><img align=left src="/forum/images/ranks/5_star_rating.gif"/><br clear="all"/>Rank: Administration<br clear="all"/>Groups: Administration, Member<br/><br/>Joined: 11/3/2003<br/>Posts: 11<br/>Location: Minneapolis, MN<br/>
 </td>

and the tag that says <img src='/forum/image.aspx?u= ... if that is not showing up then something is seriously odd, and you might want to download the latest version of the forum. If that is showing up please paste what it says so that I can debug further.

Thank you.

I'm having the same problem.  I'm running version 0.9.8.  I select an avatar for my profile and click save.  When I go back into my profile, the avatar pic is gone and is replaced by the click to add an avatar.  In the database, the link is there for my avatar (and the link works).  I'm not sure...

I see this same behavior.

The problem he was stating above was that they are not showing up in his posts...

Are your avatars showing up in the posts or not? I already know about the profile bug and it eventually shows up properly after the cache refreshes...

Ok it is probably a bug because in your forum the upload avatar option is disabled... There is probably a conditional somewhere in the code that does not store the avatar if that option is not enabled. I will look at it at my next chance I get.

Hey!  You're right...I enabled Remote & Upload Avatars in the admin and I can now see my Avatars.  Thanks!

Wow that was a nasty bug. Yes basically I was depending too much on the allow remote to be checked....

So I re wrote the avatar code to not depend on that as much. I tested the useability of the new application and it seems to run more smoothly (ie; hiding options that are not allowed, and showing the options when they need to be displayed.)

I just commited it to cvs so it should be out in the next release. Until then if you want it to work for local avatars just allow remote avatar urls :-)

Another issue that may be related is that when I activate remote avatars and Upload,  that I still get the Red X after it takes a really long time for the page to load.  When I grab the properties from the image, the URL looks correct, but it doesn't load.

This URL is when I select an Avatar from the site.

www.cki.sytes.net %2fDesktopModules%2fYetAnotherForumDotNet%2fimages%2favatars%2faalogo4.jpg&width=85&height=85">http://www.cki.sytes.net/DesktopModules/YetAnotherForumDotNet/image.aspx?url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.cki.sytes.net %2fDesktopModules%2fYetAnotherForumDotNet%2fimages%2favatars%2faalogo4.jpg&width=85&height=85

If I upload my own avatar, it works properly.  Any thoughts?  Not sure if it matters, but I'm using the Rainbow version.

When going to your image KEG1029 seems
to me that there is a DNS error somewhere. I can take a look at it, but
this bug is different than the other problems on this thread. The other
problems have been fixed and will be released in the next version.
